Asia’s crypto future unveiled in Hong Kong

As the digital age surges forward, Consensus Hong Kong is set to transform the city into a melting pot of blockchain innovation from February 18 to 20. Hosted at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, this year’s conference—renowned as the world’s longest-running crypto event—promises to deliver unparalleled insights into the evolving landscape of digital assets in Asia.

Attendees can look forward to a stellar lineup of more than 270 speakers from over 90 countries. Opening the event on February 19, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-Po will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for an exploration of how digital currencies might redefine financial systems. “Hong Kong stands at the crossroads of tradition and innovation,” Chan remarked in a pre-event interview, hinting at the transformative potential of blockchain.

Regulation remains a critical focal point, with Julia Leung, head of the Securities and Futures Commission, set to outline Hong Kong’s regulatory priorities. “Balanced regulation is key to fostering innovation while safeguarding investors,” Leung emphasized, reflecting the city’s delicate balancing act between cutting-edge progress and consumer protection.

Elsewhere on the agenda, Yat Siu of Animoca Brands will dive into the fight for digital property rights, while TRON founder Justin Sun is expected to share insights on his token’s explosive journey. Solana Foundation president Lily Liu and Robinhood’s head of crypto, Johann Kerbrat, will join forces in a panel examining the increasing migration of retail investors onto blockchain platforms. Additionally, SUI founder Evan Cheng will discuss how his blockchain is evolving to meet the demands of institutional investors.

Thursday promises even more riveting discussions. Regulators from Hong Kong, Thailand, and Malaysia will provide a comprehensive outlook on regional digital asset governance. Meanwhile, Stacks CEO Muneeb Ali will lead a spirited dialogue on the renaissance of Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions alongside industry voices like Jacob Phillips and Rich Rines. Eric Anziani from Crypto.com will round out the day with a fireside chat on his company’s ambitious global expansion plans.

The CoinDesk Hong Kong Pitchfest 2025 will also spotlight promising Web3 startups, while Crypto Fight Night, the eighth installment of a popular boxing exhibition, promises an electrifying bout between crypto influencers Bitlord and Korean Jew.
